Piraeus Bank organized a reception in Odessa in honor of Seafarer Day

Among the honorary guests of the event were: General Consul of Greece in Odessa Mr. Antonios Haziroglu, First Counselor for Economic Affairs and Trade of the Consulate General of Greece in Odessa Mr. Dimitrios Ziogas, President of the Marine Odessa Captains Association Vadim Gritsyuk, as well as members of the Association and the representatives of shipping and crewing companies in Odessa.

As stated Board Member of Piraeus Bank Svetlana Cherkay in her appeal to the guests, the International Group that the bank has a membership in, possesses a huge experience in servicing seafarers, shipping and shipbuilding companies and the main task of the bank is the implementation of this experience in the Ukrainian financial market. "The main task of the celebration is to understand the demands of seafarers, their needs and aspirations, and to offer them really useful financial decisions. Greece is historically associated with navigation and currently has the largest trade fleet in the European Union. Experience of Piraeus Bank Group, with over a century of history servicing the marine industry, could not be better suited to the needs of Ukraine, which in turn has a huge potential and highly qualified seafarers market, "- said the banker.

The Bank's clients admit the reliability of financial institution: "The Danaos Shipping Company” has been working at the market for already 15 years, and during that time had been working with many banks. Piraeus Bank attracted us first of all with the modern software programs and financial programs’ flexibility - tells the Piraeus Bank client, Head of Danaos Shipping Company Valery Pastushenko. - We are familiar with Greek bank for nearly two years and all payments of our salaries go through them. We are grateful to the bank for a flexible approach to the salaries’ payment to our sailors even in these difficult times. We wish them further development and expansion of the branches network in Odessa and throughout Ukraine."

Mr. Ziogas also noted the relation of Greece and Ukraine to seafaring field: "The sea ports and trade has always played a vital role in the present and the future of Greece and the Ukraine and has always combined these countries. Those who are present here today are the best proof of that, and I thank them for their presence. Port of Piraeus, as well as the similarly-named bank, is an important international shipping center, which many shipping companies choose to conduct their activities in." First Counselor for Economic Affairs and Trade of the Consulate General of Greece in Odessa expressed optimism according to the economy and the banking system in Greece: "The state economy in Greece is not only in the process of sustained improvement, but also the primary budget surplus is noted, and the Greek State debt is no longer a threat to economy. Greek banks continue to be one of the poles of stability and development of the Greek economy. Piraeus Bank, "reliable since 1916", stable, dynamic and open is the foundation of a strong banking system of Greece, which continues to support a healthy business."

During the event a tasting of Greek wines took place, as well as the lottery, which resulted in the receiving of exclusive gifts, including: a gift certificate of 20% discount for dinner at "Atlantic" restaurant, two certificates for UAH 1000 on learning English in «Bridge School», elite whiskey of 12-year exposure, named after the novel by Sir Walter Scott "Antiques" from WineTime company. The main prize was a certificate for free obtaining of Visa Gold card from Piraeus Bank.
