30 January 2024

Piraeus Bank has been involved in charitable projects and initiatives since its establishment. After the full-scale invasion, charitable activities have become especially important, as they help to strengthen the defence capabilities of Ukraine and bring us closer to peace.

One of such projects is the cooperation with the STALEVI foundation, created on the initiative of Serhiy Volynskyi, a marine and a Hero of Ukraine.

Piraeus Bank provided charitable aid of UAH 3.55 million to support the key activities of the Foundation.

The funds from Piraeus Bank will be used for treatment and care of the defenders of Ukraine, the development and implementation of physical and psychological rehabilitation program.

By assisting the fund, Piraeus Bank aims to improve the ability of STALEVI to support their humanitarian activities. While supporting Ukraine's economic development is extremely important, it is equally important to unite the business community and the public, as it not only affects the present-day situation but will also contribute to the prompt post-war recovery of the country.

"When we talk about providing charitable assistance, we strive to demonstrate by our own example how important and significant such initiatives are for the society in this difficult period for the country. Supporting our defenders is not only about social responsibility, it is about understanding the price of victory and showing that we all can make our contributions to it. We are confident that our cooperation with STALEVI is one more worthy example of social responsibility of the business community, as other business firms have initiated in the country, and there will be more and more similar projects," commented Yannis Kyriakopoulos, Chairman of the Board of Piraeus Bank.

"Unity is the main key to our victory! I am very grateful to Piraeus Bank Ukraine for such a contribution to the common victory, for the opportunity to treat and support the heroes of modern-day - our marines. Without our help, it will be difficult for them.
The struggle continues, so every conscious citizen, responsible business, public or charitable organization should tirelessly help the country for the sake of a happy and peaceful future for our children." - noted Tetiana Kharko, Head of the STALEVI Charitable Foundation.
