Piraeus Bank in Ukraine launches Energy Industry & New Technology financing direction
27 October 2026

Piraeus Bank in Ukraine is expanding its corporate banking capabilities with the launch of a dedicated Energy Industry & New Technology direction, focused on financing energy, infrastructure, and technological modernization projects. The new direction aims to help Ukrainian businesses strengthen their energy independence, improve operational resilience, and invest in long-term growth.

The launch responds to growing demand for investments in energy security, energy efficiency, and infrastructure modernization. As Ukrainian companies seek to reduce their exposure to energy disruptions and rising operating costs, access to tailored financing for complex investment projects is becoming increasingly important.

The new direction will prioritize projects in renewable energy, distributed generation, energy storage, production modernization and automation, as well as logistics and supply chain infrastructure. Its primary focus will be on medium-sized companies in agribusiness, food processing, manufacturing, logistics and cold storage, retail, and commercial real estate.

Through the dedicated team, Piraeus Bank will offer project finance, investment loans, and structured financing solutions for new energy and infrastructure projects, equipment acquisition, construction, and broader capital investment programmes. These financing capabilities will be further strengthened through cooperation with international financial institutions and development partners. Beyond financing, clients will benefit from specialized sector expertise and support throughout the investment lifecycle, from initial assessment and financial structuring to financing implementation.

Over the next five years, Piraeus Bank in Ukraine aims to build a diversified project finance portfolio of EUR 100–150 million, with a focus on distributed energy generation, energy efficiency, and ESG-linked investments. This forms part of the Bank's ambition to strengthen its position in energy and sustainable finance in Ukraine.

“Ukraine's energy sector is undergoing a fundamental transformation, creating significant investment opportunities in energy generation and storage, as well as energy infrastructure. Our goal is to become a trusted financing partner for businesses driving this transformation by providing sector expertise and tailored financing solutions. Ultimately, we see these projects as investments in the competitiveness, resilience, and energy independence of Ukrainian businesses,” said Yannis Kyriakopoulos, Country Manager and CEO of Piraeus Bank in Ukraine.

The new direction is led by Arsen Kryvosheia, Head of the Special Project Finance Unit at Piraeus Bank in Ukraine, who brings extensive experience in corporate lending, structured finance, and project finance. Before joining Piraeus Bank, he worked at DTEK Renewables, focusing on corporate finance and renewable energy project development.
