Piraeus Bank participated in the first Ukraine Britain Business Council (UBBC) conference, held in London at Hogan Lovells Cadwalader. The event brought together representatives of Ukrainian and British businesses, financial institutions, government, academia and international organisations to discuss investment, economic transformation and opportunities for deeper cooperation with Ukraine.
Yannis Kyriakopoulos, Country Manager and CEO of Piraeus Bank in Ukraine, joined the conference’s investment panel, which examined what it takes to move from growing international interest in Ukraine towards concrete investment. The discussion covered investor confidence, understanding the local market and the conditions businesses need to navigate its opportunities and challenges.
“Investment readiness does not mean waiting for risk to disappear. It means understanding that risk, preparing for it, and building the right structures to manage it. Alongside this, effective cooperation between businesses, banks, governments and international financial institutions is essential to create more opportunities for investment in Ukraine and to strengthen the mechanisms for mitigating risks,” said Yannis Kyriakopoulos.
For international companies considering investing in Ukraine, navigating the local market and working with partners who understand its regulatory, financial and business environment, is an important part of managing investment risk.
As part of the international Piraeus financial group, Piraeus Bank combines its team’s local market expertise with the experience and support of an international banking group. This combination enables the Bank to support businesses already operating in Ukraine as well as international companies exploring opportunities in the Ukrainian market.
