Higher limits for cash withdrawals from foreign currency accounts and payments abroad
04 September 2026

Effective 11 August 2026, the National Bank of Ukraine increased the daily limit for cash withdrawals from foreign currency accounts both in Ukraine and abroad. It also expanded the options available to individuals for paying for goods and services abroad.

The key changes include:

  • Cash withdrawals from foreign currency accounts. The daily limit for cash withdrawals in Ukraine and abroad has been increased from the equivalent of UAH 100,000 to UAH 200,000.
  • Payments abroad from hryvnia accounts. The monthly limit for payments for goods, works and services has been increased from the equivalent of UAH 100,000 to UAH 200,000. This amount can now also be used to pay residential rent abroad. Payments can be made not only by card but also by transferring funds directly to the recipient’s account, including the SWIFT system. For such transfers, the bank purchases the required foreign currency at the client’s request.
  • Transfers from foreign currency accounts. Goods, works and services abroad can now be paid for not only by using a foreign currency card but also by transferring funds directly to the recipient’s account, including the SWIFT system. A separate monthly limit of the equivalent of UAH 200,000 applies to such transfers. Card payments from foreign currency accounts remain unrestricted, except for certain categories of transactions.
  • Payment for accommodation and residential rent abroad. The monthly limit of the equivalent of UAH 500,000, which previously applied to accommodation services paid for with a foreign currency card, has now been extended to residential rent. Within this limit, payments can be made either by card or by transferring funds from a foreign currency account directly to the recipient’s account.

In addition, effective 11 August, the monthly limit for purchasing non-cash foreign currency has been increased from UAH 50,000 to UAH 200,000

The new rules were introduced under NBU Board Resolution No. 90 dated 10 August 2026.

The following limits on transactions from hryvnia accounts remain in effect:

  • cash withdrawals in Ukraine — up to UAH 100,000 per day,
  • cash withdrawals abroad — up to the equivalent of UAH 12,500 during any seven-calendar-day period.

The NBU does not impose limits on cashless payments in hryvnia within Ukraine. However, payment card transactions may be subject to limits set by the bank or by the customer.

Piraeus Bank customers can manage their cards and accounts, view transactions, and review or adjust their limits online in the Winbank mobile app.
