Piraeus Bank continues to improve digital tools to ensure your financial security. We are introducing a separate card limit, "Online Purchases and Transfers", in the Winbank mobile app. This update allows you to manage your spending more precisely and protect your funds from unauthorized online transactions. 

Why we introduced this limit 

Previously, card payment limits were applied generally. No we have separated them allowing you to set a specific daily amount for transactions.

This is important because: 

•    Set your own limit for online purchases without restricting yourself in regular in-store payments.
•    Even if your card details are compromised, unauthorized attempts to use your card online cannot exceed limit you set. 
•    Your funds remain securely protected while you engage in online shopping or make transfers. 

Operations covered by the new limit 

This restriction applies to all transactions where the card is not physically used at a terminal: 

•    Payments for goods and services in online stores by entering card details (card number, expiration date, and CVV code). 
•    Card-to-card transfers (P2P) made via Winbank or third-party payment services. 
•    Reccuring payments for online services and subscriptions (e.g., Netflix, Spotify) as well as hotel or ticket bookings. 

Important information regarding daily payments 

For your convenience, payments made in person remain unchanged. The new limit does not apply to:
•    Payments made via Apple Pay and Google Pay using a smartphone or watch. 
•    Standard plastic card payments at in-store terminals. 

These transactions remain in the "Card Payment" category as they are considered secure due to your physical presence or biometric authentication. 

Please also note: if you have not previously changed the initial purchase limits for your card, these limits will also be updated and changed for certain products. 

How to change the limit in Winbank yourself

The new functionality has already been automatically activated for all your cards. To adjust it according to your needs, follow these three simple steps in the app: 

1.    Select the required  Card  on the main screen. 
2.    Go to the  Settings  section (gear icon). 
3.    Select  Limit Management  and set the amount that is convenient for you.
